Who we are?

The Europe-Third World Association (Luxembourg) is a Luxemburgish non- governmental organization created in 1986 by and among the civil servants of the European Institutions in Luxembourg. Its goal is to help the most destitute Third World communities to help themselves, through the support of local initiatives, and independent of all considerations of race, religion or politics.

The Association?s primary concern is to furnish local communities themselves with the skills and the material means by which they can meet their own needs and improve their own lives through their own work.

Through financial and relevant material collections the Association also helps Third World communities struck by natural disasters.

Raising consciousness

Europe-Third World has committed itself to sensitizing public opinion to the need to share in the development of the Third World through micro-projects. It also gives those concerned and committed the opportunity to help financially through regular donations.

What we do and how you can help?

With the funds it raises, Europe-Third World finances micro-projects principally in agriculture and hand-crafts. These projects are sometimes financed in conjunction with the Luxemburgish government and/or with other organizations pursuing similar goals, and always in accordance with defined criteria. The projects, generally between ?2,500 and ?12,500, must be viable, on-going, productive, and must clearly contribute to self-development.Informed help making a difference

Before taking any decision concerning a request for aid, the Europe-Third World committee gathers detailed information on the possible project in question, including close consultation with in-the-field and on-the-spot experts [aid-workers, missionaries.] The Association closely observes and controls how the funds reach their destination and how they are best used.
